How to Find Loose Slot Machines

It is a fact that some slots are looser than others. The casinos allow this for several reasons, but the ultimate reason is always to make more money. Your job, as a slots player, is to find those loose slots. Here are a few things to remember when hunting for a loose slot machine.

Location

Casinos may put loose slots where they need them and where they will pay off the most. For example, they may put loose slots near change booths since, if you see someone hitting a jackpot and there is a change booth nearby, you're more likely to play there too. Casinos may also put loose slots where they can be clearly seen from other areas in the casino, to attract more players.

Denomination

Slots with lower denomination are usually tighter than higher denomination slots. The logic behind this is simple. First, they cost the same to maintain so the cheaper machines must pay out less to be able to return the same amount to the casino as the more expensive ones. Second, players need an incentive to play in the higher denomination machines. These will eat up their bankroll sooner, so unless these slots are loose, you have no reason to choose them over the cheaper slots.

Beware of playing higher denomination slots though. The payback may be better, but you will lose your money more quickly due to the bigger bets.

Jackpot Prizes

With the advent of random number generators, jackpot prizes now keep getting bigger and bigger. One reason the casinos can afford to do is they reduce the number of smaller winning spins. With the slots paying out these smaller winners less often, they can afford to give away bigger jackpot prizes when they are finally hit.

In other words, the bigger the jackpot prize on the slots, the rarer you will get smaller winning spins. You can take this one step further and conclude that the bigger a jackpot prize is, the less likely you will win it.

Progressives vs. Flats

Similar as the point given above. Progressive slots have the really big jackpots that run in the millions. While the top prize may be very big, the smaller winning spins are dealt less often.

Because of this, you should look for slots with realistic jackpot sizes. The smaller the jackpot prize, the easier for you to win it. It's not some magic or rigging in the slots though. It's just that the odds are calculated to make it more possible. The prize is smaller so the casino can grant better odds for that jackpot getting hit.

We hope these tips will help you find the looser slots next time you are in a casino. If you still can't find them in spite of these tips, well, try asking the cocktail waitress if she seems friendly!
